چکیده
New technologies are emerging that may offer potential remedies to persistent global problems of lack of access to safe drinking water, insufficient or non-existent healthcare, and inadequate energy sources. The challenge in applying nanotechnology, biotechnology, and other emerging technologies to human needs is moving beyond the traditional technology-transfer model, where expertise and resources are developed centrally and distributed outward to developing nations. The Emerging Technologies/Emerging Economies Conference will convene leaders across sectors to discuss new pathways for appropriate technology-based solutions to problems related to energy, the environment, and health care. The focus is on emerging economies in Brazil, India, and China, South Africa, and other developing countries. The conference invites innovators and leading thinkers among development practitioners, policy planners, public officials, the private sector, and the R&D community to a two-and-a-half day conference in Washington, DC:
